“I feel off. Like I’m stuck.
Why do I feel numb?
Is this the rest of my life?”

I've had that conversation with myself countless times. And if you're here, you've probably done the same thing.

You've always been a hard worker. Someone who embraced challenges because you learned that growth happens in the discomfort. You've reached heights you once thought never existed.

Your résumé is impressive, your calendar is booked, and everyone sees you as driven and highly motivated. From navigating uncharted territory to leading teams to the finish line, you've fought battles no one prepared you for. You've rightfully earned your title, your awards, and your recognition.

You are a tried and true, battle-tested leader.

In the early years of your career, you and your team pushed through the trenches. It felt impossible sometimes, but victory was earned and success was a group effort. There were losses, but the wins kept the momentum going.

New and exciting challenges emerged, perfect for a high achiever like you. Those climbs grew steeper, higher,...and tougher. Then, the time came when the top of the mountain was in arm's reach.

You accomplished what you once thought was unbelievable. But this time, it felt different. That's the moment you looked around and realized that the only one up there...was you.

Lately, you've noticed achievement is hard to celebrate. Reaching the goal feels...just okay. Things don't really feel done or complete.

There's also unimaginable weight that shoulders itself to you.

Smiles that mask how you really feel because you're always "on" and watched. Expected to always have the answers and make the right decisions. Every handshake feels like a chess move. Every remark becomes a tactic. Every introduction is strategic. All while wondering if you're the only one in the room thinking,

"Is all of this worth it?
Why do I feel empty?"

You push those thoughts away because you still have work to do. But they quietly persist. They're loudest in the few silent moments you have. Your mind feels cloudy for some reason.

You say, "It's just stress", and you power through. Constantly moving and proving because slowing down feels risky...scary...even dangerous.

Until, one day, you look in the mirror and no longer recognize yourself.

I call this The Gray.

It's the place where left is no different from right. Up is just like down. And forward and backward are now the same direction. It's the fog you can't quite figure out. The pressure that you can't seem to escape from. And the only companion that understands you...is you.

The Gray clouds your judgment in a dense haze. You struggle to remember your interests. Your hobbies find themselves on your bucket list titled "Maybe One Day...". Your dreams turn into a graveyard of unlived potential.

The whispered thoughts you pushed away become loud questions that can no longer be hushed. Happiness feels unfamiliar. Excitement is foreign to you. You look up and you no longer remember yourself because who you are is defined by what you do.

You've probably said to yourself,

"I don't like it here...but no one understands.
Is this it?
Is this the rest of my life?"

It doesn't have to be.

I've faced similar fears as I sailed through The Gray.

The pressure to be "on" in the face of uncertainty. The fatigue of countless and, seemingly endless, decisions to be made. Discovering new terms and conditions of a high achiever's ambition.

I was always headstrong. From the creative and performing arts to academics and martial arts, my standard was to excel at everything I put my mind to. That determination guided me into adulthood to pursue my dream:

To be the person I didn't have.

The one who could make artwork and make art work. From industry to academia, I earned the accolades, delivered the keynotes, guided the teams, and spearheaded the national initiatives. I lived the dream, only to wake up in The Gray and realize the dream no longer fulfilled me.

Like many leaders, I was quietly crumbling under the weight of trying to hold it together.

At the same time, my confidants went from many to few because they didn't understand. From their view, I had it all: the recognition, the reputation, the stellar CV, and the inspiring words that believed in everyone else more than I believed in myself.

In truth, I struggled. It felt like I lived a double life. I encouraged others to follow their dreams while I grew disconnected from mine. I was terrified I'd lose everything I worked so hard for.

Somehow, with every bit of courage I could muster, I decided enough was enough and charted my way through The Gray. Because of it, I remembered who I was and, yet again:

I became who I didn't have.

Now, I guide founders and leaders through The Gray and help them create the paths to their own lives, identities, and legacies.

So, I get it.

And I'm here to guide you...
when you're ready.

Before we continue,
let me properly welcome you.

I'm Marq Mervin, your guide.

At different points in my life, I’ve created, taught, researched, built, and pioneered. In each step, I met The Gray and was challenged to recenter, reevaluate, and recreate.

I work with founders like you who are stuck in The Gray.

If you’d like to learn more about my story, you can do so below.

Meet Your Guide.

Welcome to The Way of Becoming

The Way of Becoming is the path through The Gray and onward to the next chapter of your journey. The essence of The Way of Becoming is rediscovering Self, redefining the relationship between occupation and identity, and creating the pathway towards a life and legacy of fulfillment. This experience can be best summarized as transforming crisis into:

  • Curiosity

  • Choice

  • Change

  • Clarity

  • Creation

How We Walk Together

The Way of Becoming is designed to be personal, introspective, reflective, and intentional. I believe no two paths—or people—are the same. This is a good thing. Knowing this, our walk together will be uniquely crafted to meet you where you are and where you desire to go.

Throughout 12 sessions, we use my Waymaker Framework to help you:

  • Envision the person you’ll become and the life you’ll create.

  • Identify the obstacle(s) and underlying roots that cloud your way.

  • Build the pathway to the next chapter of your life and legacy.

  • Sustain the newly created foundations of your transformation.

The Way of Becoming Commitment

The Way of Becoming is a 5-figure investment. This reflects the depth of the work we’ll create and build together. Here’s what you should expect:

  • You will be challenged because I’m committed to your growth.

  • You will be asked gut-punching, soul-stirring, core-rattling questions that help you find your answers.

  • You will be reminded that this is your mountain to climb, but you aren't alone anymore.

  • You should be willing to face your fears along this journey.

  • You should also be prepared to put in the quality hard work to build your courage muscle.

  • And above all else, you must be determined to make the climb.

Our work together won’t be tied to urgency. You won’t be “fixed” because you aren’t broken. We work together slowly and intentionally so you can truly hear your inner Self.

I don’t walk ahead of you. I walk beside you.

So, if you’re ready to walk together

I invite you to The Way of Becoming.

After I receive your form, I’ll review it and respond to you within one week. If I think we’d work well together, I’ll invite you to a coaching call. This is complimentary, and there’s no obligation to move forward afterwards.

This is simply an invitation to a conversation.

Let’s get to the heart of the matter when you’re ready.
